Japanese Tourist Injured in Early Morning Pattaya Assault

PATTAYA – A 57-year-old Japanese tourist was left with a fractured nose following a roadside assault in the early hours of October 4, an incident that has highlighted ongoing concerns over tourist safety. The attack occurred around 4:30 a.m. near the entrance of Soi 13 Chalermprakiat, a central area in the bustling coastal city.

Indian Tourist Assaulted in Pattaya Club Over Payment Dispute

Rescue workers from the Pattaya Rescue Center discovered the victim, identified only as Mr. Honda, seated beside his blue Scoopy i motorcycle with visible facial injuries. After administering initial first aid at the scene, responders recommended he be taken to a hospital for further treatment. However, Mr. Honda declined transportation and opted to return to his hotel instead.

Authorities have expressed frustration as the tourist also declined to file a formal complaint at the Pattaya City Police Station. Police noted that such reluctance frequently impedes investigations and allows perpetrators to remain at large. According to witness accounts, the altercation began as a verbal exchange after Mr. Honda parked his scooter. A Thai man on a motorcycle reportedly approached him from behind, and the situation escalated rapidly when the assailant delivered a punch to the tourist’s face before fleeing the scene.

While the exact motive remains unclear, preliminary investigations suggest the violence may have stemmed from a spontaneous roadside dispute. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby establishments in an effort to identify the suspect. Local officials have reiterated concerns that unreported assaults complicate efforts to address recurring safety challenges and protect both residents and visitors in Pattaya.
