Indian Tourist Assaulted in Pattaya Club Over Payment Dispute

PATTAYA – An Indian national was assaulted and threatened at a popular nightclub on Walking Street in the early hours of September 26, leading to an ongoing police investigation and concerns within the local Indian community. The 33-year-old tourist, whose identity has not been disclosed, reported being attacked by the Indian manager of the venue and his security personnel after a disagreement over an unsettled bill.

According to the victim’s account, the altercation began when he asked the manager of the Boss Club to return a borrowed gold necklace. The manager reportedly refused until the tourist settled his outstanding drinks tab. The situation quickly escalated, culminating in the manager and his bodyguards physically assaulting the victim. He alleges he was struck on the leg with a hard object, and a weapon was pointed at his head while his passport was confiscated.

Laxman Singh, President of the Indian Association of Pattaya, provided context after speaking with the victim’s friends. He explained that the tourist is considered a VIP client at several Indian-operated clubs in Pattaya and that it was common practice for him to settle his bills the day after visiting. Singh expressed deep concern over the incident, stating that such violence severely damages Pattaya’s reputation as a safe and welcoming destination. He urged business operators to protect all visitors, especially valued customers, and called on authorities to ensure a swift and just resolution.

Following the assault, the victim received medical treatment at Pattaya Memorial Hospital before filing a formal complaint with Pattaya City Police. The Pattaya police chief stated that investigators have already inspected the club and are gathering evidence. The case is now pending formal identification of the suspects by the victim, after which legal summonses will be issued and proceedings will move forward.
