Tropical Storm Bualoi to Bring Heavy Rain Across Thailand for Two Days

BANGKOK – The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning for widespread heavy rainfall across multiple regions on Monday and Tuesday, influenced by the movement of Tropical Storm Bualoi. The storm, which made landfall in Quang Binh city, Vietnam, at 1 a.m. on Monday, has since weakened from a typhoon into a severe tropical storm.

Sugunyanee Yavinchan, director-general of the department, reported that as of 4 a.m., the storm was located approximately 50 kilometers east of Xiangkhouang province in Laos. It is moving west-northwest at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour and is expected to further weaken into a depression and eventually a strong low-pressure area over northern Laos.

The storm’s influence is forecast to bring heavy to very heavy rain to many parts of Thailand, particularly in the North, Northeast, East, and along the western coast of the South. Ms. Sugunyanee urged residents across the country to remain vigilant against potential hazards, including heavy rain accumulation that could lead to flash floods and water overflows, especially in waterways near foothills and low-lying areas.
