Serial Poisonings Claim Nearly All Dogs in Korat Village
NAKHON RATCHASIMA – A wave of deliberate poisonings has devastated a village in Si Khio District, resulting in the deaths of nearly all its canine residents and leaving the community gripped by fear and suspicion. The unidentified perpetrator has prompted urgent calls for a police investigation as residents grapple with the loss of their pets and a growing sense of insecurity.
Mother and son die in Yasothon after eating poisonous mushrooms
The tragedy first came to light through a 69-year-old villager, who recounted the deaths of her three pet dogs last month. She described witnessing one of her dogs collapse after consuming contaminated food. Despite her desperate attempts to save the animal by administering eggs to induce vomiting, it died in front of her. By the following morning, her two remaining dogs were also found dead outside her home.
This incident is not isolated, with similar poisonings reported throughout the community. One neighbour managed to save a dog through immediate intervention, but several other dogs belonging to residents and local shopkeepers have perished. The recurring pattern has caused widespread distress, forcing villagers to replace their pets in an effort to maintain household security. Residents have formally reported the issue to both the village headman and the police, yet no suspect has been identified. Community speculation about the motive ranges from simple annoyance at barking to more sinister aims, such as preventing dogs from alerting owners to intruders or concealing planned burglaries and other illegal activities.

Echoing the community’s anxiety, another resident from Moo 3 in Mittraphap Subdistrict reported that his own dog was poisoned just two days ago while he was at work. He rushed home after his wife’s call in a futile attempt to rescue the animal. He stated that such incidents happen repeatedly in the area, leaving families fearful and their homes without protection. With the perpetrator still at large, villagers are demanding a swift and thorough investigation to deliver justice, prevent further harm to animals, and restore a sense of safety to the community.
