BANGKOK, Thailand – Eight students were arrested after a fight between groups from two rival educational institutions broke out on the OneSiam Skywalk in Bangkok’s Pathumwan district on Friday morning, leaving four people injured and causing a scare among passersby at the busy pedestrian link connecting major shopping centres. Police at Pathumwan station received a report of the brawl at approximately 7:50 a.m. and dispatched patrol and investigation officers to the scene, where they found the groups from rival educational institutions engaged in fighting.

Officers intervened and detained eight people, while four others suffered injuries consistent with physical assault and were given first aid by emergency responders before being taken to Hua Chiew Hospital for treatment. The eight suspects were taken to Pathumwan police station for questioning and legal proceedings, as authorities investigate the circumstances that led to the confrontation between the rival student groups.

The incident occurred on the skywalk that connects Siam Paragon, Siam Center, and Siam Discovery, a popular area frequented by both tourists and locals, and the morning brawl caused alarm among early shoppers and commuters. Police have not disclosed the names of the institutions involved or the specific cause of the altercation, though student brawls between rival schools and vocational colleges have been a recurring issue in Bangkok.
