British Tourist Killed in Phang Nga Pickup Truck Collision

PHANG NGA — A British national died on Thursday after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck at a U-turn in a busy tourist area of Phang Nga’s Takua Pa district. The incident has reignited concerns about road safety in popular tourist zones where high-speed traffic and pedestrian activity frequently intersect.

Phang Nga Police Arrest Two Men with Explosive Device in Vehicle

The crash occurred near Wat Komniyakhot School in Khuk Kak subdistrict. The victim, identified only as Mr. G., was riding a black Honda Click 125i motorcycle when he attempted to navigate a U-turn and was struck by a red Isuzu pickup truck registered in Phuket. The impact overturned the motorcycle, scattering debris across the road. Mr. G. was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup driver, Mr. Samart from Phuket’s Mai Khao subdistrict, sustained no injuries. His vehicle suffered damage to the right headlamp and front panel. Khuk Kak Police are investigating the collision and gathering evidence for legal proceedings.

Local authorities noted that despite safety measures—including warning signs, traffic lights, patrols, and speed restrictions—accidents remain frequent along Phetkasem Road due to speeding drivers and tourists crossing unpredictably on foot, bicycles, and motorcycles. The area around Khao Lak is particularly prone to such incidents.
