Woman Hospitalized After Suspected Cannabis Jelly Incident in Pattaya

PATTAYA — A 25-year-old Thai woman required medical treatment early Wednesday morning after allegedly consuming cannabis-infused jelly snacks provided by a South Korean man in central Pattaya. The incident has raised concerns about unregulated edibles in tourist areas.

Pattaya police responded to a distress call around 3:30 AM on Pattaya Second Road near Soi 5 after locals discovered the woman, identified only as “Biu,” visibly disoriented and shaking uncontrollably. Witnesses provided initial aid, including cooling her face with water, before officers arrived.

Ms. Biu told authorities she had been with a South Korean customer who first encouraged her to smoke cannabis before offering jelly candies. Shortly after eating them, she experienced severe dizziness and nausea. When she attempted to leave, the man allegedly blocked her exit, forcing her to escape and seek help from strangers on the street.

Police transported Biu to a nearby hospital for evaluation. While she declined to file an immediate complaint, officers advised her she could pursue charges later if desired. No arrests have been made, but investigators are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspect.
