Violent Clash Erupts at Pattaya Night Market Over Music Volume Dispute
Pattaya – A heated argument over loud music escalated into a physical assault at Pattaya’s Threpprasit Soi night market late Tuesday night, leaving one vendor hospitalized and exposing simmering tensions in the bustling commercial area. The brawl marks the latest in a series of vendor disputes plaguing the popular tourist destination.
Dawn Brawl Near Pattaya’s Walking Street Sparks Closure Time Debate
Pattaya City Police and Sawang Boriboon rescue teams responded to the 11:36 PM disturbance to find a clothing vendor bleeding from head injuries amid a crowd of shocked onlookers. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, received emergency treatment for bruises and facial swelling before being transported to a local hospital. His assailants—reportedly fellow vendors—had fled the scene before authorities arrived.
The injured merchant told investigators the violence stemmed from an ongoing feud with a neighboring perfume seller about appropriate music volume levels. After initially complying with complaints to lower his stall’s audio, the clothing vendor became enraged when he heard the perfume seller subsequently blasting music. The situation deteriorated when the clothing vendor made an obscene gesture during a confrontation the prior evening—an act that allegedly prompted the perfume seller to organize retaliatory violence.
Investigators have secured a bystander’s cellphone footage capturing portions of the altercation and are reviewing market surveillance tapes to identify the attackers. “This wasn’t spontaneous—it appears to be premeditated retaliation,” noted Pattaya Police Colonel Naris Niramit, confirming multiple suspects remain at large.

The incident has reignited concerns about conflict resolution in Pattaya’s congested market areas, where close quarters and competing businesses frequently spark disputes. City officials plan to convene vendor representatives to discuss de-escalation strategies, while police increase nighttime patrols in commercial zones.
