AK, May 23 – Thailand’s Naresuan Force has intensified its presence in Phop Phra district, Tak province, following a series of heavy airstrikes by Myanmar’s military targeting resistance forces near the border. The clashes erupted after rebel groups launched a major offensive against a Myanmar army base, prompting retaliatory bombings that have sent shockwaves across the frontier.
Karen Forces Capture Myanmar Military Base Near Thai Border
Fighting remains fierce as resistance fighters, including the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and allied groups, continue their push to capture seven Myanmar military outposts opposite Phop Phra. Earlier today, KNLA forces launched a heavily armed assault on the Myanmar Army’s Chedi Khao base in Myawaddy, deploying drone strikes that forced government troops into retreat. In response, Myanmar’s military conducted aerial bombardments on Karen positions close to the Thai border.
