Purchase of 100 new locomotives planned

A 19.5-billion-baht project to procure 100 new diesel-electric locomotives will be submitted to the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) board this September.

SRT deputy director Thanongsak Pongprasert said that while the government agency has 140 diesel-electric locomotives at present, only around 50-60% of them are fully operational.
