Prime Minister confirms not to overhaul rice system

BANGKOK, 4 November 2016 (NNT) – The Prime Minister asked people to understand the government’s relief measures to the rice price issue, assuring that its will not overhaul the rice pricing system but will stabilize farmer’s income.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha asked people to listen to details of solutions to the rice price issue on a televised program called the King’s Teachings during an evening broadcast. He confirmed that the solution will not overhaul the entire rice price structure but will bring more sustainability and stability to farmers. He said that the solution must be applied to the whole system from production, marketing and water management.
