CHON BURI – A giant Buddha statue the height of a nine-storey building under construction at a meditation centre collapsed during a fierce thunderstorm in Muang district on Monday night.

The statue, named Phrabhud Santi Apimahamongkholchai, is being erected in tambon Napa municipality.
