Referendum result leads to election next year

BANGKOK, 11 August 2016 (NNT) – Acceptance of the result of the referendum on the new constitution, paves the way for a general election at the end of 2017 and a return to normal government in Thailand.

Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Thailand’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, this week declared the result of the 7th August Referendum on the Draft Constitution, accompanied by member of the Constitution Drafting Commission Supachai Yavaprabhas and adviser to the Constitution Drafting Commission Jade Donavanik, to diplomats of 48 countries and the International Chambers of Commerce. He pointed out that the referendum was a free and fair vote in which the Thai people determined their own future and demonstrated the power of the silent majority.
