A female American tourist was found safe and sound but exhausted Thursday night about eight hours after she phoned her boyfriend to report that she lost her way while trekking in Doi Suthep forest in Chiang Mai.

A search involving several tourist police and forest rangers from Doi Suthep-Pui national park was launched Thursday afternoon when tourist police in Chiang Mai were alerted by the boyfriend of Ms Shautal Chahine, 22.
