Yala police on Tuesday foiled an attempted car bombing, defusing explosives packed inside a stolen pickup truck outside a petrol station in the insurgency-wracked southern province.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers discovered two cooking gas cylinders packed with explosives connected to a 12-volt motorcycle battery and a radio-transmitter trigger inside a Toyota Hilux parked in front of the Toyota Pitarn Panich Yala Co. car centre and adjacent to a Shell petrol station in Muang district around 10am.
