Thai Cabinet approves five-day New Year holiday

BANGKOK, Oct 2 – Thailand’s Cabinet yesterday assigned January 2 as an extra public holiday, extending the New Year holiday to five days from December 31 through January 4, according to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

Gen Prayut said the decision aims to stimulate the economy as well as to support local tourism.
