Security tightened in Chiang Mai to prevent drug smuggling

CHIANG MAI, April 2 – Chiang Mai province steps up security measures to prevent drug smuggling during the upcoming Songkran festival as two drug traffickers were killed during a clash with local police.

Chiang Mai deputy governor Chana Paengpiboon said security will be tightened along the border, because drug trafficking rings could benefit from the festival period for their operations.
