Thai rice farmers to rally at two ministries on Monday

BANGKOK, 9 February 2014 (NNT) – Rice farmer protesters have continued surrounding the Ministry of Commerce, awaiting their fellow farmers from other provinces before marching to the Ministry of Justice and the office of the Ministry of Defense in Mueang Thong Thani on Monday.

The farmer protesters have rallied in front of the Ministry of Commerce since 6 February to press the government for payments from the rice support program. Protest leaders and representative of rice farmers took turns to give a speech to the protesters while sympathizers were gradually traveling to the rally site to donate items to them.
