Two Vietnamese fishing boats impounded for violating Thai waters in Chon Buri

CHON BURI, Jan 12 — The Royal Thai Navy intercepted two Vietnamese fishing boats which were trawling illegally in Thai waters, as the captains admitted that many Vietnamese boat head to fish in Thai waters due to more plentiful fish.

Vice Admiral Rungsak Serisawat, First Region Navy Commander, in his capacity as director of the Thailand Maritime Enforcement Coordinating Center Region 1, said he received report that many Vietnamese trawlers were found scattered in the upper Gulf of Thailand, around 64 nautical miles from Chon Buri’s Koh Chuang.
