Police crackdown on illicit drugs at Na Khon Si Thammarat prison

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, April 22 – The police confiscated more than 1,700 methamphetamine pills and almost 300 mobile phones in a pre-dawn raid at Na Khon Si Thammarat prison.

The deputy director–general of the Corrections Department, Sophon Thitithammarak, and Nakhon Si Thammrat Governor Wirote Jiwarangsan told a news conference on Sunday that the early morning raid by 650 commandos and police officers at the prison found 280 mobile phones and tablets, 1,700 pills of methamphetamine and 50 grammes of crystal methamphetamine, also known as ice, in the prison.
