More than 50 aftershocks recorded in Phuket since Monday earthquake

BANGKOK, 19 April 2012 (NNT) – The Seismological Bureau of the Thai Meteorological Department disclosed that there have been 15 aftershocks with the magnitude of more than 2 on the Richter scale in Phuket province up to this morning, following the 4.3 magnitude quake on Monday.

The tremors have reportedly been felt in Thalang district. These aftershocks were detected 5 times on Monday from 20.30 hr until 23.47 hr. Meanwhile, 4 aftershocks were recorded on the following day from 01.00 hr until 12.18 hr and 6 times yesterday from 00.49 hr until 20.39 hr.

However, the Seismological Bureau claimed that there were also around 50 aftershocks of lower than a 2 magnitude being detected.
