Hat Yai warns of flood: Narathiwat faces forest run-off

HAT YAI, Jan 12 – Songkhla’s Hat Yai municipality raised the ‘yellow flag’ today warning residents of flood danger after heavy downpours raise local water levels and flood fears prompted the immediate closure of schools in five at-risk areas.

Heavy rain at Hat Yai’s Patong sub-district forced residents to closely monitor the water level at Khlong Tong, a branch of Khlong U-Tapao, the district’s main canal, and a significant indicator of flood levels in Hat Yai.
