The Meteorological Department of Thailand on Friday afternoon issued a warning for people in eastern coastal provinces of the South to prepare for widespread scattered rain with heavy falls in some areas and the danger of floods from today to January 1.

The department said the northeastern monsoon is now prevailing over the Gulf of Thailand and southern region.
