Thai PM Yingluck says she’s working for Thai people, not for any individuals

BANGKOK, 23 August 2011 (NNT) – Thailand’s Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has assured the Thai people that she would work for the country and not for a specific individual.

Ms. Yingluck said during the first round of policy debate today that the reason she did not terminate the Oil Fund was because it helped reduce household expenses for Thai families.

She also dismissed the accusation that she was working in the Prime Minister position for a specific person, saying that the majority of Thai people have elected her, and so her sole responsibility was to work for them. She added that if that were the case, the Thai people would never vote for her again.
