AOT to uplift Chiang Mai International Airport

BANGKOK, 6 March 2011 (NNT) – The Airports of Thailand (AOT) is pushing for Chiang Mai International Airport to feature in the list of top 10 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) in the world.

AOT President Serirat Prasutanond said the AOT had set a goal for Chiang Mai International Airport to be among the global top 10 by 2012 and among top 5 by 2014. The Airport has also been promoting green airport project in accordance with the Airports of Thailand’s policy.

The Airport has established a new terminal to support around 2 million international passengers each year. The old terminal has also been developed to handle around 6 million domestic travelers per year. Altogether the Airport can support up to 8 million passengers per year, a significant increase from the old capacity at 3.5 million people.

Since October 2010, international flights arriving and departing the airport has increased by 33% year-on-year.
