Pickup Carrying Lao Workers Crashes, Four Killed in Sa Kaeo

SA KAEO – A deadly collision between two pickup trucks in Sa Kaeo province on Saturday evening left four people dead, including an unborn child, and several others injured. The crash occurred on the road between Khlong Hat and Watthana Nakhon districts around 6:20 p.m. on January 18, 2026.

Police and rescue teams arrived to find one pickup carrying Lao migrant workers severely damaged, with several passengers trapped inside. The other vehicle, a four-door pickup, also sustained heavy front-end damage. Initial reports indicated the workers had been picked up from various points in Chanthaburi province and were en route to Nakhon Phanom province when the crash occurred.

Fifteen people, including a pregnant woman, were traveling in the pickup at the time of the collision. Four adults were pronounced dead at the scene, and the unborn child of the pregnant victim was also lost. Multiple passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Khlong Hat Hospital and Wang Nam Yen Hospital for emergency treatment.

Rescue operations continued for several hours as crews worked to free trapped individuals and clear the roadway. Authorities later coordinated with relevant agencies to assist survivors and arrange transport for those involved.

An investigation into the exact cause of the crash is underway, with police questioning drivers and survivors. The incident has renewed concerns over road safety and the transportation of migrant workers in overcrowded or modified vehicles. Legal proceedings will follow once the investigation is complete.
