Murder Investigation Launched After Bound Body Found in Roadside Bin in Chanthaburi
CHANTHABURI – Authorities in Chanthaburi have launched a murder investigation after the body of an unidentified man was discovered bound and stuffed inside a plastic bin left beside a roadside bamboo thicket on December 4, 2025. Police, forensic teams, a duty doctor from Na Yai Am Hospital, and volunteers from the Sawang Katanyu Rescue Unit responded to the scene in Ban Huang Hin, Na Yai Am subdistrict, shortly after 5:30 p.m.

The black plastic bin, approximately one meter high and without a lid, was found lying on its side roughly five meters from a concrete road in overgrown vegetation. Inside, rescuers located a tightly wrapped bundle of fabric emitting a strong odor of decomposition, with part of a human back visible.
Rescue personnel carefully removed the body for examination. The victim, a naked man, had been wrapped in three layers: a yellow blanket, a black floral sarong, and a mesh fabric. His wrists were bound with a shoelace and his ankles secured with paracord. The body was curled tightly within the bin and showed signs of early decomposition, leading investigators to estimate the time of death at approximately five to six days prior. A preliminary examination could not determine whether the man had been injured by a sharp object, a blunt weapon, or another method.
Forensic officers documented the scene and collected evidence, including jewelry found on the victim. The body has been sent to the forensic medicine unit at Phra Pokklao Hospital for a full autopsy to determine the cause of death and establish the victim’s identity.
Nearby residents have provided initial information to investigators. A 55-year-old fruit farmer, Santi, told police he noticed the bin two days earlier but detected no odor and assumed it was illegally dumped trash. He said he did not recognize the victim and believed the man was not from the local community. Residents and shop owners also reported hearing dogs barking unusually around 2:00 a.m. on November 28, a detail investigators consider significant.

Based on the condition of the bin and the surrounding area, police believe the man was murdered elsewhere before his body was placed in the container and dumped to conceal the crime. Officers are now reviewing CCTV footage from nearby properties and along connecting roads to track the perpetrators. The investigation remains active as authorities await further forensic results, continue witness interviews, and analyze video evidence in an effort to identify both the victim and those responsible for his death.
