Cambodian Man With Gun and Explosives Arrested in Bangkok
BANGKOK – Bangkok police have arrested a Cambodian national found in possession of a firearm and explosive materials, thwarting what investigators believe was a planned revenge attack. The operation, conducted on December 27, was led by senior Metropolitan Police commanders including Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom.

Acting on intelligence, officers raided a rented room in Soi Suan Laem Khlong Nueng 11, Khlong Sam Wa district, where they apprehended 38-year-old Koemeang Moeun. During the search, police discovered an improvised explosive device, a homemade firearm, firecrackers intended for weapon modification, and additional materials for constructing Molotov-style incendiary devices.
According to the investigation, Moeun confessed to assembling the weapons in preparation for retaliation after he was previously chased and assaulted with a knife. He stated that fear and a desire for revenge motivated his actions. Authorities expressed serious concern over the threat such stockpiled weapons posed to the residential community.
Moeun has been charged with multiple offenses, including illegal possession of a firearm and explosives without a permit. He is currently detained at Bang Chan Police Station as legal proceedings continue.
