Eleventh Thai Soldier Loses Leg in Sisaket Landmine Blast
SISAKET – Another Thai soldier has been severely wounded after stepping on an anti-personnel landmine near the Cambodian border, marking the eleventh such incident involving Thai troops. The explosion occurred in the Khao Santasom area of Si Sa Ket province’s Kantharalak district, a zone recently retaken from Cambodian forces.

Army Spokesman Major General Winthai Suvaree confirmed that Sergeant Major Suchin Chitkreeyar, a member of the 8th Engineering Battalion of the 1st Cavalry Division, lost his left leg and sustained injuries to his left eye in the blast. The landmine is alleged to have been planted by Cambodian troops.
As the Thai-Cambodian ceasefire entered its second day, another Thai soldier stepped on a Cambodian landmine and was seriously injured in Si Sa Ket province on Monday, becoming the 11th Thai soldier to fall victim to Cambodian landmines.

Major General Winthai stated that Thai soldiers are gathering evidence from the site, which will be forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The documentation is intended for submission to international bodies monitoring compliance with the Ottawa Convention, which bans the use of anti-personnel mines, as well as to the ASEAN Observer Team.
