Indian Scam Suspects to be Deported After Fleeing Myanmar Compound
MAE SOT – Thai immigration authorities have announced the impending deportation of 270 Indian nationals who recently escaped from the notorious KK Park scam compound in Myanmar. The individuals, who crossed into Thailand’s Mae Sot district, have been declared persona non grata and will be repatriated via a military transport aircraft provided by the Indian government.

Pol Lt Gen Panumas Boonyalak, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, confirmed that the group—comprising 244 men and 26 women—underwent thorough questioning by Thai officials. The investigation aimed to determine whether they were victims of human trafficking or had traveled to Myanmar voluntarily to participate in fraudulent call center operations. Following the interviews, authorities concluded that all 270 individuals had willingly engaged in scam activities.

The group has been charged and convicted for illegal entry into Thailand and is currently awaiting repatriation. Their flight from KK Park occurred last month alongside over 1,500 foreigners of various nationalities, as Myanmar troops and allied Karen forces bombarded the scam center in Myawaddy township.
