Indian Tourist Arrested for Wielding Model Gun in Bangkok’s Siam Square
BANGKOK – A public disturbance caused by an Indian tourist brandishing what appeared to be a firearm sparked panic in the bustling Siam Square area on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:00 PM in front of the Novotel Hotel, prompting a swift response from security personnel and police officers.

Witnesses reported that the 41-year-old man, identified as S. R. T., was shouting incoherently and pacing agitatedly through the crowded shopping district before drawing a small object resembling a handgun. The display caused immediate alarm among shoppers and tourists, with many fleeing the area for safety. Security staff quickly intervened, subduing the individual and confiscating the item before handing him over to Pathumwan Police Station officers.

Authorities later confirmed the weapon was a non-functional model gun incapable of firing live ammunition. Police charged Mr. T. with committing public harassment and making threats that cause public fear. A subsequent drug test detected cannabis in his system, which investigators believe may have contributed to his erratic behavior.
