NARATHIWAT — Two workers were seriously injured, one losing a leg, when a bomb detonated Tuesday during cleanup operations at a mineral mining site in Chanae district previously targeted by arsonists, the Bangkok Post reported.

The explosion occurred around 11:30 a.m. in Ban Ai Sue Rae, tambon Chang Phueak, as employees of Asia Mineral Processing Co. cleared debris from a backhoe truck set ablaze last Thursday. The victims include a backhoe driver who suffered a traumatic amputation of his right leg and the site manager, who sustained additional injuries. Both were urgently transported to Chanae Hospital for treatment.

Police investigators attributed the attack to insurgents, noting that the bomb was likely planted during Thursday’s arson incident and intended to target responders. The company specializes in mining sodium and potassium feldspar, minerals critical to the ceramics industry.
