BANGKOK — In a sweeping effort to regulate the country’s cannabis industry, Thai authorities have closed more than 1,000 shops and confiscated nearly a tonne of cannabis flowers in a two-month nationwide crackdown. The operation, led by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, inspected over 5,200 businesses out of nearly 19,000 registered cannabis-related establishments between June 16 and August 13, 2025.
