The shooting erupted at 12:38 p.m., with eyewitness footage capturing the assailant—later identified as Noi Praidaen from Nakhon Ratchasima’s Khong district—firing indiscriminately before retreating past the bodies of four slain security guards. A woman vendor was also killed, while two other female victims sustained injuries.

As forensic teams processed the crime scene, stunned vendors described the market’s normally bustling corridors turning into “a war zone” during the attack. Or Tor Kor, a popular fresh food hub near Chatuchak Weekend Market, remained closed indefinitely as authorities launched a probe into Praidaen’s background and possible grievances.
