BANGKOK — A 61-year-old man opened fire at Or Tor Kor market in Chatuchak district on Monday, killing five people before turning the gun on himself in a shocking midday attack that sent shoppers fleeing in panic.

The shooting erupted at 12:38 p.m., with eyewitness footage capturing the assailant—later identified as Noi Praidaen from Nakhon Ratchasima’s Khong district—firing indiscriminately before retreating past the bodies of four slain security guards. Police discovered Praidaen’s body on a market bench wearing a black T-shirt and camouflage shorts, a rucksack beside him. Investigators recovered his ID and driver’s license but have not disclosed a motive. The weapon used—reportedly a handgun—was found at the scene.
