German National Arrested in Pattaya for Drug Trafficking and Illegal Firearm Possession
PATTAYA – A joint operation between Pattaya police and the Narcotics Suppression Bureau led to the arrest of a 42-year-old German national on Monday morning for alleged cocaine trafficking and illegal firearm possession. The suspect, identified as Mr. J., was apprehended following an undercover sting operation that uncovered 427 grams of cocaine worth nearly 500,000 baht and a loaded .380 caliber handgun.

The investigation began after authorities received intelligence that a foreign national working at a bar and sports club in central Pattaya was distributing cocaine to foreign clientele while routinely carrying a weapon. After weeks of surveillance, an undercover officer successfully purchased 2 grams of cocaine from Mr. J. in an initial transaction, establishing probable cause for further action.
On the morning of June 17, police arranged a second controlled buy in a parking lot, where Mr. J. arrived posing as a tourist. However, he became suspicious after completing the deal and attempted to flee on a motorcycle toward a bar in Soi Buakhao. Officers pursued and eventually apprehended him at the location.

A subsequent search of his residence yielded an additional 424 grams of cocaine and the unregistered firearm, with authorities estimating the total seized contraband at nearly half a million baht in street value.
During questioning, Mr. J. claimed that an unnamed German associate supplied him with bulk quantities of cocaine, which he then sold to foreign buyers at 2,500–3,000 baht per gram. However, investigators remain doubtful of his account and are working to identify other members of the alleged trafficking network.
Police confirmed that the suspect, who has lived in Thailand for over four years, allegedly used his employment at the entertainment venue as cover for his drug distribution activities. The successful operation marks a significant disruption to Pattaya’s illicit drug trade, with authorities pledging to expand the investigation to dismantle the wider supply chain.
