On Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, at approximately 3:00 PM, Kamala Police apprehended Mr. C., a 32-year-old Nigerian man, at the entrance of the Kamala Police Station. The arrest followed the circulation of a video on social media showing two foreign men allegedly using drugs on a roadside in Kamala. The footage sparked widespread outrage and prompted an immediate investigation by local authorities.

During the arrest, police seized 0.82 grams of cocaine from Mr. C., leading to charges of illegal possession of a Category 2 drug under Thai law. During questioning, Mr. C. confessed to selling cocaine to Mr. S., a Swiss national who was also seen in the viral video.

After the video went viral, Mr. S. voluntarily contacted the authorities and admitted to being one of the individuals depicted. A drug test confirmed the presence of cocaine in his system. As part of the legal process, Mr. S. has agreed to undergo drug rehabilitation treatment.

Kamala Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, focusing on determining the source of the drugs and whether additional individuals are involved. Both suspects remain in custody as legal proceedings move forward.

This case highlights the growing use of social media as a tool for exposing illegal activities and holding individuals accountable. It also underscores the challenges faced by Thai authorities in combating drug-related crimes, particularly in tourist-heavy areas like Kamala, Phuket.

The incident has sparked discussions about the prevalence of drug use among foreigners in Thailand and the need for stricter enforcement of drug laws. Local residents have expressed concern over the impact of such activities on the community’s safety and reputation.

Kamala Police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug-related offenses and ensuring the safety of both residents and tourists. They have urged the public to report any suspicious activities and have emphasized the importance of community cooperation in combating illegal drug use.

Authorities are encouraging tourists and locals alike to remain vigilant and avoid engaging in or supporting illegal activities. They have also reminded the public that drug offenses in Thailand carry severe penalties, including lengthy prison sentences and hefty fines.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to uncover the full extent of the drug network involved. Both Mr. C. and Mr. S. will face legal proceedings, with the Swiss national expected to undergo rehabilitation as part of his case.
