Prasat Khon Buri in Nakhon Ratchasima

Prasat Khon Buri (ปรางค์ครบุรี), also known as Prang Khon Buri or Prasat Khorn Buri is a ancient Khmer temple located in Khon Buri district of Nakhon Ratchasima province in Northeastern Thailand.

It’s believed that the temple was built by King Jayavarman VII of the Khmer Empire, and initially was used as hospital or Arokayasala.

Prasat Khon Buri is a 800 years-old Khmer sanctuary built entirely with Laterite blocks and frames made from sandstone, located in the enclave of the Nakhonthamkhosit Wittayakhan School. It consists of a single tower facing east, a gateway or Gopura, and a library or Bannalai on the north with a openness to the west. The perimeter of the complex is surrounded by a wall.

The temple has been recently restored by the Fine Arts Department of Thailand.
