Former CIB chief gets one month in jail added to his 36 years prison term

The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Persons Holding Political Position today (Feb 27) sentenced former commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) Pongpat Chayapan to one month in jail for false declaration of his assets to the National Anti Corruption Commission.

The latest jail sentence with no suspension will add to the current jail terms of 36 years and three months he was serving after he was convicted by the court since 2015 in four of the seven cases for lese majeste, bribery in police promotions, oil smuggling, involvement in operation of illegal gambling dens, money laundering, and illegal possession of artifacts.
