While noting that the electrical system at Khon Kaen airport was obsolete, Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith said that the exact cause of the fire at the airport on Friday (Jan 26) was still unknown pending an investigation by forensic officials.

The minister who inspected the airport on Saturday said that airport officials regularly inspected the electrical control room, but he admitted that electrical equipment had been in use for about 20 years without being replaced.
