Thai Prime Minister Confirms General Elections to Be Held in 2017

Thailand’s Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha said Tuesday that general elections would be held in the country in 2017, in strict accordance with the government’s roadmap.

BANGKOK (Sputnik) — On Sunday, the Thai voted in favor of a new constitution in a referendum. In accordance with the latest version of the roadmap proposed by the Thai National Council for Peace and Order, the elections based on new electoral law and new constitution should be held in November-December 2017.

“The elections will be held in 2017. I have never said anything different from that. One must have confidence in the road map of the government, which we strictly adhere to,” the head of the Thai government said in a televised address.
