A Thai prison guard was killed after he was hit on the head with a hammer by a Myanmar inmate trying to break out of Tak’s Mae Sot prison yesterday morning, Justice Ministry deputy permanent secretary Kobkiat Kasivivat said.

The unnamed inmate then tried to climb over the jail fence but was captured.
