A kamnan in Chiang Rai has been arrested by police for allegedly involvement in the murder of a Thai couple in Japan about 19 years ago.

The arrest of 57-year old Boonrith Chanthapoon, kamnan of Tambon Ban Khai of Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district, followed a request from Japanese police to the National Police Office after it was discovered that the suspect has changed his name and is living in Chiang Rai.
