A construction contractor from Nan threatened to set himself alight in the Government House compound on Thursday afternoon to protest at the authorities’ delay in helping him with his loan-shark debt worth 700,000 baht.

Chalerm Sornnonthee ran past two security guards at Gate 4 of Government House and stopped outside the Government Savings Bank branch.
