The meeting between the government and the Election Commission was abruptly called off after anti-government protesters laid siege to the Karntarat conference hall at the Royal Thai Air Force.

Informed sources said that the meeting to discuss the upcoming election and the EC’s demand for more powers to call off an election in case of an emergency went on for about 20 minutes before the arrival of the protesters.
