Fewer passengers at Suvarnabhumi as result of Bangkok rallies

BANGKOK, 8 January 2014 (NNT) – Suvarnabhumi Airport sees a 40% drop in air passengers with some airlines preparing to cancel their flights to Thailand after anti-government protesters announced to occupy Bangkok on 13 January.

Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport Raweewan Netrakhawesana said air passengers from China, Hong Kong and Singapore had already decreased by 40%, resulting in a 20% drop in flights to Thailand. Singapore Airlines had informed the airport that it might cancel all flights to Suvarnabhuni from 14 January to 25 February due to concerns over the demonstrations, Ms Raweewan said.
