Death toll during 7 dangerous days reaches 366 in 3,184 road accidents
BANGKOK, 3 January 2014, (NNT) – As many as 366 people were killed on the road during the so-called seven dangerous days, the same number as last year’s, says the Interior Minister.
The 7 dangerous days, which began on December 27, 2013 and ended on January 2, 2014, saw the same number of death toll as it did last year. However, more accidents were reported this year than last year; at 3,184 compared to the 3,164 reported last year. 3,345 people were injured in road related-accidents this year during the 7 dangerous days, higher than last year’s figure of 3,329, according to the Interior Minister.
The province with the highest number of accidents is Nakhon Sawan, with 127 accidents. Nakhon Ratchasima saw the highest road accident-related deaths at 21. The main causes of fatal accidents are drunk-driving and speeding, respectively.
