Constituency registration in 6 southern provinces disrupted: EC

BANGKOK, Dec 28 – The first day of registration of constituency candidates for the February 2 general election has been obstructed in six southern provinces, as registration venues were blockaded and surrounded by protesters in the morning, according to the Election Commission (EC).

Somchai Srisuthiyakorn, election commissioner for election administration, told a press briefing that currently registration has not been carried out as scheduled in the six provinces of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Chumphon, Krabi, Phuket and Phatthalung and Songkhla due to the protests and blockade of registration venues.
