Foreign Ministry helping kidnapped Thai crew in Nigeria

BANGKOK, Aug 7 – Thailand’s foreign ministry is coordinating with several agencies to help a Thai crewman kidnapped by pirates who hijacked his ship off the Nigerian coast, according to ministry spokesperson Thani Thongphakdi.

Mr Thani, who heads Department of Information, said the ministry could name the Thai but would not reveal his name at the moment. The embassy there is coordinating with the Nigerian government and Dutch-based Sea Trucks Group (STG) , the crew’s employer, to find him.
