Heavy rains forecast in Northern Thailand and Isan

BANGKOK, 7 August 2012 (NN) – The National Warning Center has issued a warning for residents living in the upper North and North Eastern of Thailand to brace for monsoon trough, which will bring heavy rains to the regions.

The Center has advised residents in these areas to be cautious when leaving their houses in the next few days. In the south of Thailand, the Southwestern monsoon is spreading across the southern part from the Gulf of Thailand to the Andaman Sea. High waves 1-2 meters high will likely be generated due to the adverse weather conditions.

Fishermen should be extra vigilant when leaving the shore. However, Typhoon Haikui, which is expected to land on China tomorrow, will not affect Thailand.
