Vietnam prepares for typhoon Nesat

HA NOI – Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has instructed authorities nation-wide to prepare for Typhoon Nesat which is roiling the East Sea and headed for Viet Nam.

The eye of the storm was at 17.4 degrees north and 116.8 degrees east at 7am today, around 490km north-eastern of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, with wind gusts of between 113-118kph, the National Hydro-meteorological Forecast Centre reported.

Hai asked the authorities to take full measures to ensure the safety of the dyke systems and evacuate people from areas prone to flash floods and landslides.
